Swim techniques
- The 5 strokes, reach, EVA(early vertical arm), Pull, Push and high elbow
- The sightings- while breathing both sides ( a must ), raise the head up
- During the high elbow to hand entry, relax the hand.
- During Outdoor swimming, relax as much as possible and glide the waters.
- A stroke option during sea swimming is reach, followed by early vertical arm, then catch or pull and a turn of palm to catch additional water and push( modified s turn)
- Foam of swim is very important to cut through water. Leading hand stretch should lift the heel
- In open waters, leg beating should be easy so that we don't waste energy.
Triathlon points
- Turn at Buoy, keep the leading hand inside and use other hand for pull and push
- If too many swimmers at Buoy, they become part of the buoy turn point
- If a fellow swimmer, push you down, change the stroke to push the water below so that you offer resistance
- It takes some time for the assistance to arrive, increase the surface area by floating face up and hands and legs stretched further. Or stay a float by doggie peddle
- One turn swim direction by changing the leading hand.
Drills
- 20 strokes with fisted hand
- 20 strokes with only right hand stretched
- 20 strokes with only left hand stretched
